Just Lose Already

How are you today? I’m doing pretty well actually! I managed to get through a weekend without feeling sorry for myself and blowing it. I know that sounds so childish, but I know lots of my food issues are connected to my “inner child”.

Thank you everyone--you are helping me. This is better for accountability than a weight loss program counselor any day (I’ve tried most plans at least once)!

I’ve lost 3 pounds this week! That’s a very big deal for someone who can go weeks to lose a pound. Calories in/calories out has not always been strictly correct for me...how about you?

Now I’m going to say something radical in the world of weight loss. Forgetting what everyone says is heathy/not healthy, have you figured out what truly works for you? Not the latest plan, but maybe taking from here and there and realizing how your body reacts?

It’s hard to not respond to cravings and hunger long enough to realize what they might be telling you. It’s also really hard that, to shake your body into responding, you might need to get tough for a bit. Or get creative! I'm trying to get comfortable with the idea that to overcome my body's inertia, I will have to be uncomfortable.

Here’s the part where I remind you that we, as adults, are all responsible for how we treat our bodies. I can tell you what seems to have started working for me, but that might not be right for you. Talk to your doctor if you have health issues!

The Plan
I’m eating 1000 calories or less. I know, I know, oh my goodness that’s too little. Well, I have tried 1250 - 1350 calories (tracked) with 1 hour exercise (cardio or some combination with strengthening) 3 times a week, for several weeks, and nothing changed. Supposedly, I should have lost a few pounds -- nope.

Here’s my idea. I exercise more often for less time. Treadmill or elliptical 30 minutes, 3-4 times a week and some Pilates-based strengthening 3 times a week (15-20 minutes). With the lower calories and close to balanced macros (33:33:33), it has shook my body into starting to lose.

I’ll do this for a few weeks and take a week off from tracking. This break is meant to stimulate my metabolism. My efforts will be to exercise and maintain, along with enjoying some treats.

I have found, that at about a month, my body has easily adjusted to what I’m doing and shuts down weight loss. This has happened to me probably hundreds of times and it’s so discouraging. I've abandoned countless weight loss programs at this point!

I’ve decided I’m going to figure this out, no matter what!

THIS IS NOT ME!! But inches (or more accurately--centimeters) actually came off this week.
Why do we think the latest plan will work for us? Maybe you need more protein or fewer carbs. Use what works. Toss what doesn’t.

Now, I know it will be a huge challenge to get back to it once my “break” is over. I’ll be depending on you to help me through that!

Why don’t you join me? We can be accountable to each other!! Comment and say you’re in!
