enough IS enough

How was your day yesterday? Did you meditate? I’m hoping to create a morning ritual for myself. I don’t know if it helped for sure, but I felt a bit more focused yesterday.

So, Day 2. I meditated and I’m sitting here in my workout clothes having my coffee.

Are you exercising? Although I actually get to liking exercise, I have done a very good job at procrastinating a lot. I’ve done the same thing I’ve done with food. All or nothing.

Either I’m paying through the nose for a trainer (with money I should not be spending) or I do nothing. The lastest HIIT (high intensity interval training) trend hasn’t helped. It’s like the bar is continually being raised as to what’s enough. I guess my blood sugar is delicately balanced or something, but even after months of strength training and cardio, HIIT just about made me hurl on the gym floor. I definitely scared the trainer and had to sit down.

How about enough actually IS enough? What does a woman of a “certain age” need? We need strength training. That’s the only thing that can help arthritis progression. It’s the only thing that prevents bone loss.

What about cardio? I need some cardio because of calorie burn and it makes me feel good (endorphins and all that). No, not massive intervals. Maybe a few, but if a nice hill is what I’ll ACTUALLY do, that’s what I’m doing.

Has anyone had the issue of exercise making you so hungry that it derails your food? I have. It’s only taken me 53 years to realize that I need to stop thinking I need to do more, all the time—more.

I’m shooting for 30 minutes of cardio that gets my heart going. 20 minutes of some kind of strength training. And I’m doing this at two different times of the day. No, I won’t be dripping in sweat when I’m done.

I’ve read food is 80 to 90% of weight loss. More exercise isn’t going to help me get there. Keto showed me you can lose weight without exercise, but I didn’t feel well and it didn’t improve.

What are you going to do to move today? Maybe give yourself permission to choose something you like. No qualifications about what you “should” be doing or what someone has said is “best”.
